Does Regent Crane support
the best interests of Students,
Workers, and our state as the newest
member of the UC Board of Regents?
Regent David Crane was appointed to the UC Board of Regents in the final days of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s term in office as a political favor after serving in his administration.
He advised Governor Schwarzenegger to reduce the state’s Vehicle License Fee and replace it with NOTHING, leading to a 5 to 6 BILLION Dollar annual state budget shortfall for Arnold’s entire term as Governor.
He is an Investment Banker (one of seven on UC’s Board) with little or no Education experience that we know of.
He has called for the elimination of COLLECTIVE BARGAINING RIGHTS for Public Sector workers (UC workers), taking a page right out of Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and the Koch Brothers’ play book.
In Crane’s view, it is ok for the Koch Brothers or any corporation to spend millions of dollars to buy elections, while stating that any political spending (voluntary contributions) by unions is inappropriate.
Email members of the Senate Rules Committee NOW and ask them to REJECT David Crane’s appointment to the UC Board of Regents.
